What to photograph
Most defects on traditional Brighton and Hove buildings — bungaroosh, flint, soft brick and lime render — can be assessed sensibly from photographs before anyone visits. The most useful set is:
- The whole elevation or room, so we can see the defect in context.
- A close-up of the defect itself — the crack, staining, hollow render or loose masonry.
- The area above and around it: gutters, downpipes, parapets, window sills and ground level.
- The matching internal view where damp or staining is involved.
What happens next
We review every request personally. If the work looks local and straightforward we will prepare a virtual quotation from your photographs and description. If the cause is unclear — persistent damp, cracking, failing render on a solid wall — we will recommend an on-site inspection first, because we specify repairs only once the cause has been diagnosed.
Every quotation sets out what we found, why the proposed repair addresses it, and the lime-based materials we intend to use. Read more about our diagnostic approach or browse the services we quote for.
